Q10017 - FIX: CrypKey Driver Failed or "-24 INITIALIZATION: DRIVER FAILED OR BUSY"

Upon getting an error saying "Crypkey driver failed or busy" when trying to run ESD licensed version of Disk Doctors, you would see the error recorded in the ddr.ckn file (this file is created inside the disk doctors program files folder).

According to the .ckn file, the CrypKey License Service is either disabled or is not able to run. “INIT ERR: -24 INITIALIZATION: DRIVER FAILED OR BUSY”

There are two conditions that will cause this error:

1. The CrypKey License Service is not running. Verify the service is running. If it isn't, then follow the procedure mentioned below

Attached is a file, download and unzip it, It will contain a file called Upgrade_driver.bat. When you get it, extract to the application folder that should be C:\Program Files\Disk Doctors Email Recovery\ and run the bat file.

It will remove the existing driver and would install the drivers again. Then reboot your computer.

Hopefully that resolves the problem, else check for the below mentioned requirement for the folder where Disk Doctors software is installed.

2. Directory Security is incorrect on the license directory. Verify the following security settings on the directory that contains the license: Stand alone security configuration: (SYSTEM account and User have FULL CONTROL access) OR (local everyone group has FULL CONTROL access) Network Server configuration: (SYSTEM account and domain user/user-group have FULL CONTROL access) OR (local everyone group and domain user/user-group have FULL CONTROL access)
